Relatively new brand, Mother Denim, has put out their second denim collection (coming out in Spring 2012). The brand is catching the attention of fashionista's far and wide with their vast collection of flared jeans. Each wash and style comes in it's own clever name. We feel most partial to The Curfew Jean although, The Wilder Trouser Jean kinda of excites us as well! And though we don't own a pair yet, we must let you know, the fabric is to die for and the collection is coming out with some real surprise pieces for Spring! We can't wait to fill you in on the fit!

Do you have a favorite style and wash from Mother denim? If you do, let us know about it!

EDWIN JAPAN – Unique Denim Manufacture

EDWIN JAPAN today released their latest film, shot in Japan last year featuring a look at the people, the culture and their denim manufacturing process.

“For 35 years, Edwin Japan have worked on improving efficiency, quality, construction and washing methods by studying and engineering machinery used in the denim manufacturing process.

It is impossible to improve what one makes without spending the time everyday to master what one does, turning ones profession into a craft. The denim technicians at Edwin are true craftsmen, as their commitment and attention to the product is unquestionably what makes the Edwin product stand out from the mass of denim available within the market today. Whilst this remains ‘production’, the working philosophy remains closer to a greatly more efficient and productive Artisanal method.

They are ‘engineers’. Each person, over the course of a long period is encouraged to be responsible for maintaining and improving their machines. This means that each machine is self-customised beyond standard industrial purposes, to create unique and specialised ways of making denim.

The majority of the technicians at the Edwin factories and laundry’s have worked within the company since the beginning. This means they have an acute understanding for their machine. Each technician is responsible for three machines on average, all performing different elements of the production process. They remain on these machines for the duration of the careers. There is almost now rotation of staff, offering complete consistency in the making.

The machines are completely unique and totally custom made, exclusively to EDWIN JAPAN, which sets EDWIN out as a denim manufacturer worldwide. There is not a single machine, which has not been customised by the technicians over the time they work on them.

The laundries are incredible, with bespoke and exclusively made machines. Unique ways of washing, dying, drying and above all water purification and recycling. The water is purified to the point whereby once all the indigo and other impurities have been extracted, fish are able to swim in tank of the purified water.”

I'm excited to review a pair of Citizens of Humanity -- as I've yet to try the brand. I know what you're probably thinking, "how has she NOT tried this brand?" It's always been a brand on my denim radar, so I'm glad I have the chance to check them out. It's a given that Citizens of Humanity is a well liked brand, especially by celebs (see Jennette McCurdy, Miranda Cosgrove, Olivia Wilde, & Shakira). These Thompson skinny jeans in "True Wash" were an instant fave for me! The fit was amazing! They hugged me in all the right places, and the 98% cotton & 2% elastane gave them the perfect amount of stretch! The denim was super soft to the touch as well!

Let's talk about the wash of this denim. It is the perfect medium blue wash. Not too dark or too light -- perfect jean that you can sport during the day with some flats and then transition into the evening with a pair of heels. The 28" inseam was A+ for me! I love a skinny jean that hits right at the ankle.

I thought the fit was extremely flattering and very true to size. I typically wear a size 27, and these 27's fit perfectly. I love a jean that fits like a glove, but isn't constricting. This jean was just that -- very comfy and made me feel fabulous! Although I didn't wear these jeans for an entire day, I can see this pair holding it's shape. Sometimes you can just tell by the way a jean feels when you move around. P.S. My husband was totally smitten with the way these looked on me! That's always a plus if your man digs 'em! ;) If you are looking for a great skinny jean that's versatile and hits right at the ankle -- then go for these!
